Gimpy

Klutz award
I did a bit of a dance in my apartment that ended up in a visit to the ER. I mis-stepped and sprained my foot. So I've been home knitting, and I'll be on crutches a few days. No big deal, but a bummer.

The ER wait was forever. Once again I'm happy I have knitting and wonder what non-knitters do in such situations.

Sock Class
I'm co-teaching a knitting class for students at Penn with my knitting pal Karen. It's my first time teaching, but I think I managed teaching them the toe-up cast on OK. I missed this week's class due to the mentioned foot whoopsie.

I'm knitting along with this sock, It's handspun with angelina fibers. Angelina was a PIA to spin, and it looks OK knitted, but not enough for me to use it again.

New Lace Project
I'm knitting a sample Myrtle Leaf shawl for Rosies. I get to play with several lace yarns since I'm doing it sampler style. Cashmere, bamboo, two nice wools and a linen. Fun, no? I wanted to knit this shawl for myself, so another nice thing is that I get to see what material I want to work with for my own.

Addi Recap
I stand corrected with the lace knitting needles. It seems like they are in big demand. It also appears that they are NOT made from nickel, which is good news for people with allergies. I also didn't think of a LYS needing an alternative. My LYS is fantastic and I stop there first, but not everyone can carry everything. So I don't feel too bad buying unique products or brands not carried there, someplace else.

I still think for the price they better knit for me, but that's me I guess!

Ouch!

I can totally relate. Last spring, I tripped over my own feet just a-walking down the street, and ended up wrenching my knee so bad I was on crutches for a couple of weeks.

A coworker of mine who is a Buddhist told me that there are little sprites called "Duns" (or something of the sort) that hover around your ankles and trip you up when you're not paying attention. While I was thrilled to have someone to blame, he said, "No, you're not supposed to blame them! You're supposed to *thank* them for reminding you to be aware of your surroundings!"

Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!

So sorry to hear about your foot. ER's are horrible for waiting, I too don't know what people without knitting do, I used to get so frustrated and annoyed at long waits, now I tend to look forward to them. Although I doubt I'd look forward to a long wait with a hurt foot.

Hope it heals quickly!

Geez, Sherry, I'm so sorry to hear about your foot. I hope you recover quickly. I guess we can be grateful it wasn't any appendages that will interfere with your knitting, right? Feel better soon.
